ஆபயன் குன்றும் அறுதொழிலோர் நூல்மறப்பர்ஒரு நாட்டின் மன்னன் மக்களைக் காக்காமல்போனால் அந்நாட்டுப் பசுக்களின் பால்வளம் குறையும், அந்தணர்கள் தாம்கற்ற நீதிநூல்களை மறப்பர். (எந்தவித நீதியோ வளமோ இல்லாமல்போகும் என்று பொருள்கொள்ளலாம்.)

If a king does not protect his subjects, milk from cows of his country will diminish, and brahmans (people whose duty it is to learn and preach scriptures) will forget their learnings. (Cows are the symbol of wealth in ancient Tamil society. If cows don’t have milk, it means it’s dry everywhere. Brahmans forgetting the scriptures means there won’t be justice anywhere since the people who have the authority on it have themselves forgotten the divine advice.)
